Nacional became the champion of the "CLAUSURA TIGO" tournament, on the last round of the championship at a spectacular definition of the event, after a tie against Olimpia, while Tacuary defeated Libertad 1-0. With the series of results, Cerro Porteño obtained its qualification to the "Copa Sudamericana".

The head coach of the paraguayan national team, Gerardo Martino has offered a press conference in which he talked about the rivals of the paraguayan team in the 2010 South Africa World Cup, the venues for the pre-season and concentration for Paraguay before the World Cups as he talked about possible oponents for friendship matches. One of the news is that the concentration venue in South Africa for the national team will be the city of Pietermaritzburg and not Mossel Bay as it was stablished at first.

The paraguayan national teams is part of the group "F" in the South Africa 2010 World Cup, alongside Italy, New Zealand and Slovakia. It will face Italy on the debut match on monday, june 14 in Cape Town in the Green Point Stadium. Head Coach Gerardo Martino, physical trainer Elvio Paolorosso, APF President, Juan Angel Napout, Vice president, Alejandro Dominguez, Member of the Board Marcos Canner and National team manager, Rogelio Cattebeke, represented Paraguay at the Draw. |
